Rescue Me ID: 15-03-15-00362Bambi and Falcor (female)

Papillon Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Bambi and Falcor are brother and sister, about a year and a half old and are Chihuahua/Papillion mixes? These 2 little dogs are a couple of characters. Falcor is always pretty friendly and outgoing but Bambi likes to play the hard to get girl. She's a little stand offish at the start but once she knows you the little imp will do nothing but try to get in to your lap to be made over! These little guys are so much fun to watch play and run around the yard. They are so full of energy and just love to run around the compound yard! They are going to make some awesome companions for someone. I can't say how they are with kids because they ... (Read More)had no children in their home they lived with a senior couple, so if you have kids bring them so we can see how the dogs are with them. They both will walk on leash but still need some practice they like to wrap around your legs. If you meet them you won't be able to help but fall in love with them! So much for some of the good things, on to the problem areas. Bambi and Falcor were always outside dogs, yes they were kept outside, so they need to be house trained. They also have a bit of a sharp bark but that kind of goes hand in hand with smaller dogs unfortunately. But you really shouldn't let these problems keep you from adoptiong. With the time and effort of a few weeks they could be house trained but it will take time and effort upon your part. As for the barking it's not excessive barking they only bark when they should bark like when visitors come, but it's sharp. Very workable areas. I'm not sure how they will be with other dogs, they have only been with their mother before coming to me so haven't been around other dogs. A meet and greet with your dog would be best. They can be seperated they don't have to go together. If you are interested in one or both of these cool little dogs then call the Benson Shelter at 520-586-3600. They're adoption fees are $80 each and they are eligible for our sponsorship program to help offset the adoption cost. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Papillon in Arizona
Papillon Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Papillon is an elegant toy breed with large ears and a gracefully curved tail. Papillons are active, playful, and full of personality. Papillons do well with older children and cats with whom they are socialized, but can sometimes be combative with other dogs. Housebreaking a Papillon may require patience. Papillons love to play outside, and can be protective and territorial. This breed does best with a yard, but some Papillons adapt fine to urban apartment life.

lnteresting Papillon Trivia Low-Cost Arizona Spay & Neuter Clinics
Papillon is French for butterfly. Papillon dogs get their name because of the butterfly-like shape of their ears. Papillons are depicted in Italian frescoes from the Renaissance. A myth exists that Marie Antoinette carried her Papillon on her way to the guillotine.
