Papillon    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I came in a week ago as a stray and no one ever came for me so now PFP will get me ready for adoption. I have been named Elvis (because I know how to strut my stuff). I am about 3 years old. I am a pretty good boy - other than the fact that I bark a lot - I am housebroken and really good with everyone - I don't think I have ever met a stranger. I do like to bark at the cats but haven't been given the chance to play with them. I don't really have problems with other dogs but if you have one I would need to meet it before you can adopt me. I will be neutered and get all of my shots before I go home and I will get a microchip inserted ... (Read More)before then too but I will be ready to go home by September 5th. My adoption fee will be $175.00 and you will want to get your adoption application submitted as I don't plan on sticking around very long. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Papillon in Iowa
Papillon Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. The Papillon is an elegant toy breed with large ears and a gracefully curved tail. Papillons are active, playful, and full of personality. Papillons do well with older children and cats with whom they are socialized, but can sometimes be combative with other dogs. Housebreaking a Papillon may require patience. Papillons love to play outside, and can be protective and territorial. This breed does best with a yard, but some Papillons adapt fine to urban apartment life.

Papillon is French for butterfly. Papillon dogs get their name because of the butterfly-like shape of their ears. Papillons are depicted in Italian frescoes from the Renaissance. A myth exists that Marie Antoinette carried her Papillon on her way to the guillotine.
