Animal ID: 14-06-19-00491Mr. Bubbles (male)

Papillon    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Mr. Bubbles joined our family as a 6 month old puppy given to my daughter. She is now grown up and out of the home and could not take Mr. Bubbles with her. There are several reasons why I am looking into him being adopted. 1) I work A LOT and live alone. I feel terrible for Mr. Bubbles that he has to be alone so much. It honestly breaks my heart! 2) As a result, he often potties in the house. He doesn't as long as I am home to let him out. When he goes #2, it does NOT get in the carpet at all and is small and easy to pick up...I put a pottie pad out for him to pee, but occasionally he pees half on and half off. This honestly isn't my ... (Read More)biggest worry as I said, when I'm home it's never a problem. And when I'm gone so much, I don't blame him...but that's the problem...I am away too much. 3) He's a barker and very protective and territorial if I'm around. If he is with someone else and I'm not around... he is your best friend!! I'm convinced he believes his soul purpose in life is to please his owner and protect them. He has learned that my boyfriend is the alpha in the pack and does just fine with him...but according to Mr. Bubbles, he's next in the pack and everyone else is below him. He gets along with cats and dogs. When he meets a dog, they may growl a little, but then all is fine. He is definitely a LAP dog and will follow you everywhere. He will be your best friend :) I've seen him in many different settings and am hoping the perfect person and place is out there for him. He LOVES the country much more than the city. Noises alarm him (as he's protective and becomes anxious) and in the country he's able to relax and is SO MUCH more calm. He is also happier where he can run around. Right now he stays in a one bedroom house with me and it's just not enough for him, nor fair. I think he barks out of boredom often. When we go camping in the woods, he's amazing and his personality blossoms :). All this said, I am looking for someone who is at home most of the time and has LOTS of love to give him, plenty of land for him to run around on. I think he does better when he's not around kids only because children of course want to pet him and he growls to be protective. He has nipped a few times, but never broke skin. He's (honest to GOD) not a mean dog....a little socially inept and just a one person dog...if you are around. Again, if you are not around, he is very friendly. Mr. Bubbles is about 7 years old. He was born on Dec. 23rd. He is black and white, but as he's gotten older, some of the black has turned to brown a little bit. He weighs about 5 lbs. I let him out on a leash to pottie as we live in a city. He's easily trainable. I had to be off work for a short time and trained him not to bark at passerbys. I was amazed what I could do with him given the time. I just want him to be as happy as he can be and loved even more. It will break my heart to see him go. I love him dearly, but he honestly deserves more than I'm able to give him. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Papillon in Michigan
Papillon Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The Papillon is an elegant toy breed with large ears and a gracefully curved tail. Papillons are active, playful, and full of personality. Papillons do well with older children and cats with whom they are socialized, but can sometimes be combative with other dogs. Housebreaking a Papillon may require patience. Papillons love to play outside, and can be protective and territorial. This breed does best with a yard, but some Papillons adapt fine to urban apartment life.
