Rescue Me ID: 16-01-29-00342Miranda (female)

Papillon Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

From Shelter dog to our headquarters in the PNW. Miranda is a long haired Chihuahua/Papillon mix. She came into a California shelter as a stray and was not claimed and she became in trouble when her shy demeanor wasn't helping her get seen in a busy and overcrowded kennel. She is 9-10 years old and weighs 7-8lbs, she would benefit from more consistent exercise to keep her at her ideal weight. She does well on a leash and a crate/kennel and loves car rides. She is potty trained and also will use a potty pad. Miranda is microchipped, up-to-date on her vaccinations and is heart worm negative; she recently had a senior blood panel (which was ... (Read More)perfect) and a urinalysis (which was also perfect). She is a sweet and spunky senior who has a lot of life left in her to give. She loves to cuddle and she loves to be held and sleep in the bed at night with her person. Miranda LOVES CATS and gets along with smaller dogs, (larger dogs do scare her although we have been working on this with her). She seems to enjoy regular human companionship; she is not used to being left alone for long hours. She would do best with an active family or a senior family who can spend quality time with her, children should be dog savvy and introduced slowly. She can get a bit protective of her toys/bones around other dogs and she does seem to like to treasure them and hide them for later. She did very well when we gave her a bath, the hair dryer took some getting used to. She is currently not spayed, and has some dental concerns that we will address before she can be adopted. We know this sweet little peanut will find her forever home in the Pacific Northwest very soon! You can find an adoption application for Miranda at www.Charliesfoundation.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-12-31-00403Frodo (female)

Papillon Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Frodo is a gorgeous silver and tan long-haired chihuahua. He was rescued from euthanasia at a high kill shelter, and is in search of his forever home. We are not entirely certain of Frodo's age, but he is an adult dog and fully grown. He weighs around 6-7 lbs. Frodo is a very affectionate dog! He is the kind of boy who wants to follow you around the house and take any available lap opportunity. He gets along with other small dogs of both sexes, and would do well in a home with other small dogs. He is working on house-training, but is not 100% house-trained yet. His foster dad reports that he is very smart and is catching on quickly, but ... (Read More)Frodo will need a home that understands that sometimes accidents happen. Rescue Me ID: 15-09-29-00280Lowe (male)

Papillon    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Lowe (little wolf) is an 11 year old, healthy male papillon. He is leash trained and has achieved basic obedience. He is very sprightly, smart, and bright. Lowe is truly a castle dog -- watching the home with great care. Although he loves to take walks and chase after his toys, he does very well just curled up in his dog bed. He has been an indoor dog all his life and has spent time in only two households (same family). Lowe needs a home with adults only. He would do very well with an experienced dog whispering female owner whom he would be totally devoted. He has lived with other dogs; but would be happiest if he was the only ... (Read More)creature in the house. Lowe is tentative and sometimes fearful of other dogs - although he does fine on walks. He does not like to be picked up by people he does not trust. But he will jump up next to new people. Lowe would do well in a home with an experienced papillon owner. He should not be in a home with children. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Papillon in Washington
Papillon Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. The Papillon is an elegant toy breed with large ears and a gracefully curved tail. Papillons are active, playful, and full of personality. Papillons do well with older children and cats with whom they are socialized, but can sometimes be combative with other dogs. Housebreaking a Papillon may require patience. Papillons love to play outside, and can be protective and territorial. This breed does best with a yard, but some Papillons adapt fine to urban apartment life.
